He Surrendered

When he told her he surrendered
He gave it all, has nothing more.
She says she doesn't know him
He's not the man he was before.

He whispers so she can't hear it
'I just need to feel you cry.
I'm not cruel, but I act cruelly.
And my soul can't tell me why.'

When he hurts her it is honest,
In her tears she has to care
He's not proud, yet in these moments
Loves her more than he can bear.
